Independent Restaurants Given a Fighting Chance at Reopening

Buzz
It looks like it’s good news for local restaurants. The Independent Restaurant Coalition (IRC) released a statement on the passage of the Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act in the United States Senate. This statement says that this bipartisan bill gives restaurant owners hope during these trying times, addressing independent restaurants’ unique needs. While the pandemic continues, social distances measures require that restaurants operate at reduced capacity, causing reduced revenue for an extended period. This bill is the first step in addressing these issues for restaurants. The Independent Restaurant Coalition was formed by chefs and independent restaurant owners across the country who have built a grassroots movement to secure vital protections for the nation’s more than 500,000 independent restaurants and the more than 11 million restaurant workers impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
