Black Women in Food Award Honorees and Summit

Black Women in Food announced its 2023 award honorees and Black Women in Food Summit presented by EatOkra.  The 31 honorees consist of Black women who have made exceptional contributions to the food and beverage industry. This year's awards include two new categories - Beverage Master for exemplary work in spirits and wine; and Corporate Champion for efforts toward inclusivity in corporate spaces and/or initiatives. The winners of these categories include winner of Netflix’s Drink Masters, Lauren “LP” O'Brien and Senior Vice President of Hennessy, Jasmin Allen.   

The following 2023 Awardees were selected from after a review of 600+ nominations, across 8 categories
  • The Amplifiers: Margo Gabriel, Debra Freeman, Valerie Wilson, Candace Dantes 
  • The Beverage Masters: Lauren “LP” O'Brien, Brenae Royal, Johnny Caldwell, Taneka Reaves, Johnny Caldwell, Kapri Robinson
  • The Corporate Champions: Myriah Towner, Tiana Conley, Marie Clark, Jasmin Allen
  • The Creator: Alex Hill, Victoria Andrews, Ehime Eigbe, Ayda Biru, Amethyst Ganaway
  • The Culinarians: Adjoa Kittoe, Emme Ribeiro Collins, Suzanne Barr, Nana Araba Wilmot, Camari Mick
  • The Game Changers: Jocelyn Jackson, Ashley Keyes, Samia Bingham 
  • The Innovators: Dianna King, Akissi Stokes-Nelson
  • The Trailblazers: Ederique Goudia, Melba Wilson, Mawa McQueen

To ensure additional accessibility to the resources Black women-owned food businesses need for growth and sustainability, Black Women in Food will launch a $100k grant program at the conclusion of the summit. 

The Black Women in Food Summit provides a space for Black women across the food and beverage industry to connect, learn, and find opportunities for personal and professional growth.
