Mayor Muriel Bowser to Receive 2026 Duke Zeibert Capital Achievement Award at The RAMMYS Honors

Big news out of the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW): Mayor Muriel Bowser has been named the 2026 recipient of the prestigious Duke Zeibert Capital Achievement Award.

Each year, RAMW’s Executive Committee selects an individual who has demonstrably elevated the profile and success of the greater Washington dining landscape and foodservice community. The honor is part of The RAMMYS Honors, which celebrates the changemakers, champions, and institutions that embody the spirit of our region’s restaurant industry.

Mayor Bowser’s recognition reflects more than a decade of leadership shaping policy that impacts DC’s small business and hospitality communities. From championing mixed-use developments that helped bring restaurants into neighborhoods across all eight wards, to expanding grant programs like Great Streets, the Food Access Fund, and pandemic relief initiatives, her administration has played a significant role in supporting the city’s restaurant ecosystem. She has also taken strong public positions on issues impacting operators and workers, including defending the tip credit amid Initiative 82 reform.

Mark Your Calendar, The RAMMYS Honors Cocktail Reception will take place at The Watergate Hotel on May 5, 2026, from 6PM to 9PM, where Mayor Bowser — along with other dining industry leaders — will be celebrated. Additional honorees will be announced in the coming weeks.

It’s always exciting to see the broader community that supports our restaurant scene recognized, because behind every great dining city is leadership that understands its value.
