Bristol Bay Salmon Week
Washington, D.C.
From September 8–14, Washington, DC restaurants will showcase the world’s most abundant wild sockeye salmon from Bristol Bay, Alaska, during the fifth annual Bristol Bay Salmon Week. Organized by the Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association (BBRSDA), the celebration highlights Bristol Bay’s role in providing over half of the global sockeye supply while supporting 10,000 jobs and a billion-dollar annual economy.
Participating restaurants—including King Street Oyster Bar, Maketto, Vagabond, and Matt & Tony’s—will feature special dishes that showcase the versatility of sockeye salmon. Guests can enjoy these culinary creations while learning about the importance of permanent protections for Bristol Bay against threats like the proposed Pebble Mine.
In addition, the Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC) will announce the winners of its “Fish First Awards” during the Bristol Bay Wild Salmon Celebration on Wednesday, September 10, honoring those who have made significant contributions to protecting Bristol Bay.
