Fiesta del Sol

The vibrant celebration Fiesta del Sol Festival returns to the McLean Community Center on Saturday, March 21, from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m., bringing an energetic evening of Latin American and Caribbean music, dance, art, and cuisine to McLean! Admission is free, with food and beverages available for purchase; guests must be 21 or older to purchase and responsibly enjoy alcoholic beverages.

The festival opens with D.C.-based DJ Leo, whose upbeat mixes set the tone for the night. At 5:30 p.m., Salsa Guy Richmond invites guests to hit the dance floor with a lively salsa lesson, followed later by cumbia and merengue. Featured performer Izis—known as La Enfermera de la Salsa—takes the stage at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. A Puerto Rico native and U.S. Army nurse with more than 17 years of service, Izis performs music from her latest album, A Mi Manera, blending dynamic vocals with her talents as a songwriter and flutist. At 8 p.m., Pablo Antonio y La Firma will bring high-energy merengue and cumbia to the stage.

Festivalgoers can enjoy Spanish and Latin American tapas and handcrafted cocktails from Sabores Tapas Bar, featuring sangria and rum- and tequila-based creations inspired by Latin flavors.

A curated artisan marketplace rounds out the evening, featuring handcrafted goods and artwork from across Latin America and the Caribbean islands. Returning vendors include MilenaGuro, debuting a new spring collection rooted in Peruvian tradition, and Wanaan, showcasing Colombian-made home décor and accessories. Additional highlights include artwork by Benjamin Rodriguez of Puerto Rico; Ecuahats, representing Ecuador with handmade Montecristi hats; and Artisan SFera, representing Guatemala, alongside Steven Morton with handcrafted leather goods and Native Chilean Craftsmen. AmorosoArt will represent Mexico with breaktaking and vibrant artwork. New exhibitor Inti Phaxsi Gems, representing Bolivia, offers something special for every style.
