Studio Theatre presents The Heart Sellers by Lloyd Suh, directed by Danilo Gambini, with performances beginning September 24. On Friday, October 3, 2025, the theatre will host a special AAPI Celebration performance.

The evening begins with a pre-show gathering in Studio’s Milton Lobby, featuring food catered by local AAPI-owned restaurants. This community celebration brings together AAPI neighbors and artists in recognition of their contributions to Washington, DC’s cultural fabric.

The Heart Sellers explores the experiences of AAPI immigrant communities in America. Set on Thanksgiving Day in 1973, the play follows two women who meet in a nearly empty grocery store. Strangers in a country they barely know, they decide to celebrate the holiday together. As the night unfolds over wine and a stubbornly frozen turkey, the women find kinship in their shared struggles and humor in their unexpected similarities—while weighing the cost of chasing the American dream.
