Copper Fox Distillery's Lecture Series will continue in 2023 at the Williamsburg distillery, beginning with a series of three presentations on the Civil War Ironclad USS Monitor, which changed the course of naval warfare worldwide after engaging with Confederate's Ironclad Virginia (AKA Merrimac) in Hampton Roads. The second speaker is Williamsburg's John Broadwater, Maritime Archaeologist and former Manager of NOAA's Monitor National Marine Sanctuary, who led the recovery of Monitor's turret, engine and other artifacts. This event is free and open to the public and will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
