DC Jazz Fest Jazz In The Hoods Presents Samuel Prather

Samuel Prather is a multi-instrumentalist (keys, drums, guitar, bass, percussion, and vocals) born and raised in Washington DC. He developed a reputation for performing with and producing all types of acts. He says he's equally comfortable in Jazz, Funk, Gospel, Brazilian, Latin, Soul, and R&B. He has been lucky enough to work with Raul Midon, Fred Yonnet, Hugh Masekela, Cyrus Chestnut, Pharoh Saunders, and Bennie Maupin to name a few. Honored to win a student downbeat award in 2012 for work with the Howard University Jazz Ensemble, he currently leads his own critically acclaimed ensemble “Groove Orchestra”. He also recently started performing with a stripped down version of Groove Orchestra. Enjoy his performance at Ivy City Smokehouse, as part of the DC Jazz Fest presented by Events DC.
