First Runnings: Hazy IPAs, Peanut Buttercup Stouts, And Juicy Juice Sours

When:
May 09,2019 – May 09,2019 all-day
Where:
Heurich House Museum
1307 New Hampshire Avenue NW

First Runnings is an interview series at the Heurich House, hosted by BYT Beer Editor, Phil Runco. In brewing nomenclature, “first runnings” refers to the heavy, concentrated wort extracted from the mash, prior to rinsing the grain with more water (or “sparging”) to wash out the residual sugars. So, the first runnings is the super-rich sugar water. It’s the good stuff. The concept of this event is pretty simple: First Runnings will consist of conversations with the area’s best brewers in the intimate, historic space that was once home to the area’s most distinguished brewer. Phil will explore brewers’ successes and surprises as they experiment through today’s trends during the panel, “Hazy IPAs, Peanut Buttercup Stouts, and Juicy Juice Sours”. Phil will ask deep, hard-hitting questions of Jace Gonnerman, Beverage Director at Meridian Pint; Greg Engert, Beer Director and Partner of The Neighborhood Restaurant Group; Shawn Smith, Director of Sales at RaR Brewing; and, Chris Brohawn, Co-founder of RaR Brewing. After the chat is over, guests will have time to tour the Brewmaster’s Castle while sipping on some local brews. The bar will be open until the event is over for purchasing beer & snacks. $10. 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. To purchase a ticket, please click here.
