Giving Black Women Their Flowers
Giving Black Women Their Flowers began as a one-time event. Fuel the People Co-Founder Allegra Massaro, observed that most of those on the front lines of the fight for racial and social justice here in the nation’s capital were Black women. Too often, those women aren’t recognized for their efforts and impact while they are with us. The Giving Flowers Project was created to literally give Black Women their flowers while they’re still here. Seeking to uplift and amplify the voices and stories of these organizers and activists, and the resulting photos by DC photographers Tayo Kuku Jr. and Farrah Skeiky highlight the strength and softness of the revolutionary women in each portrait. This exhibit is sponsored by Union Market and Ledger Apartments. For more information please click here.
