Originally published in 1931 and regularly revised, Irma Rombauer’s Joy of Cooking has proved indispensable for millions of cooks. The newest edition, based on the 1975 version, was overseen by John Becker, great-grandson of Irma Rombauer, and his wife Megan Scott, who has worked for Joy since 2010, and thoughtfully balances tradition with content designed for modern tastes and lifestyles. Strengthening the original focus on home-style American cooking, Becker and Scott have updated the work for today’s audiences with 600 new recipes, including generous selections of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free dishes; the latest nutrition and food safety guidelines; tips on “streamlined cooking,” and much more. Becker and Scott will be in conversation with Bonnie Benwick, The Washington Post's deputy food editor and recipe editor. The event is free to attend and from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. For more information click here.
