La Famosa Christmas
1300 4th Street SE
La Famosa, the newly opened Puerto Rican restaurant in Navy Yard, has an island-themed lineup of menu offerings this holiday season. Perfect for gifting, the restaurant has partnered with local rum distiller Cotton & Reed to bottle Puerto Rico’s famous holiday cocktail, coquito. Coquito, meaning little coconut, is made with coconut, spices, milk and of course, rum, and La Famosa will bottle its coquito mix and also offer a dairy-free vegan variety using coconut milk. Cotton & Reed will sell La Famosa’s coquito at their distillery as individual servings as well as a bottled mix. Chef & owner Joancarlo Parkhurst and team will also offer a Coquito and Cookies gift box featuring a bottle of coquito and an assortment of traditional Puerto Rican cookies including Mantecaditos (a shortbread style cookie), and Besitos de Coco, a type of coconut macaroon. Finally, no Puerto Rican Christmas would be complete without a spread of traditional holiday dishes. Throughout the month of December, the La Famosa kitchen will offer a multi-course menu of a Puerto Rican Christmas feast featuring pernil asado, arroz con gandules, pasteles de yuca con bacalao, and more. Patio dining, spaced indoor seating at current regulations, take-out and delivery through DoorDash and UberEats are available. Each 750ml bottle of coquito is available at La Famosa for $35. The coquito and cookie package is available for $50 and requires twenty-four hours’ notice. The special menu feeds four to six people, costs $180 before tax and gratuity, and is available for takeout only. You can place orders with 72 hours’ notice via email at [email protected].
