Navy Yard's Puerto Rican café La Famosa is kicking off the summer Boricua-style with a neighborhood pig roast complete with lechon asado, a roasted suckling pig cooked over charcoal. Also on the menu are beef and vegetable alcapurrias (a popular stuffed Puerto Rican fritter), arroz on gandules, rum-forward cocktails, and Puerto Rican-made Medalla beer. Food specials will be available while supplies last, and the regular full menu will also be available.
Bomba and Plena, a genre of music and dance native to Puerto Rico, will be on full display with a small crew of performers from Los Hijo 'e Plena.
