When:
September 11,2021 – September 11,2021 all-day
Where:
Upshur Community Garden
1325 Upshur Street NW

Summer may be winding down, but it's not the end of planting season. Fall planting is absolutely a thing, and so is prepping your garden over the winter for an even more bountiful spring. Join for a day in the garden with Dr. Andy Clark, formerly of the USDA's Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program, and Wes King of the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition. Andy and Wes will provide you with an interactive lesson on what to plant this fall and how to show some love to your soil by cover cropping (planting beneficial crops specifically to prevent erosion and feed the soil) over the winter. You will be given your own free bag of cover crop seed while supplies last. The Share a Seed project will also be on-site distributing free fall seeds and garden equipment and The Friends of Mt. Pleasant Library will be hosting a garden-themed storytime for the young visitors and offering special library giveaways. This event is free to attend and is from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. To register and for more information please click here.
