Pride Month Cocktail Menu ($15 per cocktail):
  • Hatsheput: "Her majesty, the king" is how this Egpytian ruler referred to herself, and she even worse a beard. Was she queer? Nonbinary? Trans? I'ts impossible to know how she would have categorized herself, since she lived over 3,000 years ago. But her strong rule ensured that Egypt would remain a center of power in Africa for generations. (scotch, Japanese vermouth, apricot liquor, orange juice, orchid flower
  • Harvey Milk: Harvey demolished political barriers for queer people with his relentless pursuit of justice, openness, and pride. It's impossible to imagine a world in which he hadn't been alive, and heartbreaking to imagine the world we might have if he'd lived longer. This clarified milk punch is complicated, deep and slightly sweet in his honor. (rum, clarified milk, port, allspice dram, lemon
  • Sylvia Rivera: Though accounts of Stonewall riots are varied and hazy, it's clear that Sylvia Rivera - along with other activists like Marsha Johnson - fought tirelessly for their underprivileged communities. Without the ruckus they were unafraid to cause, it's likely that June would just be another month. It was long rumored that she threw the first molotov cocktail at Stonewall; she actually threw the second. This spicy cocktail will light your mouth on fire and make you want to yell "SYLVIA!" (Tito's Vodka, orange liquor, ginger beer, jalapeno)
  • Bayard Rustin: One of Martin Luther King Jr's most trusted associated, Rustin was ostracized by colleagues in the civil rights movement because of homophobia. A former nightclub singer, he beganto advocate LGBT equality before he died in Haiti in 1987. We present this Haitian inspired cocktail as one he may have himself enjoyed on the island. (rhum, chinola, grand marrier, pineapple, lime
  • Tennesee Williams: He transformed American drama with his powerful works, such as A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Though he kept quiet about his homosexuality during his life (society requiring such closeting at the time), he was a vital force in New York's queer art scene. We created this cocktail thinking of Blanche from Streetcar: "She springs up and crosses to it, and removed the whiskey bottle. She pours a half tumble of whiskey and tosses it down (1.71)" (Writer's Tears Whiskey, lemon, strawlerries, shiso
