Have you been itching to get out and explore D.C. more lately? Have you ever wondered why there isn't a J Street in the city? Now is your chance to discover! JoAnn Hill, author of Secret Washington, DC: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful and Obscure, will be leading a walking tour through the city that begins at Friendship Archway, meanders into the Smithsonian American Art Museum and Mary Church Terrell Place, dips behind Ford's Theatre in Baptist Alley, and concludes with a stop Temperance Fountain before heading to Archives Navy-Memorial Penn Quarter Metro Station. Along the way JoAnn will regale you with tales of the weird, wonderful, and of course, obscure, history of DC and all the various sights you will see. Bring along (or pick up from Politics and Prose) a copy of JoAnn's book and she will be happy to sign it, and fret not if you don't have time to purchase a copy beforehand, she always keeps a few spares in her backpack. Tickets for the tour are available for $50 per person, and the tour is limited to 20 people. JoAnn's book can be purchased for $22.50 per paperback copy here. The tour will begin at 11:00 a.m. and last approximately 90 minutes.
