Sixth & I is pleased to welcome Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, MacArthur "Genius" Grant recipient, founding director of the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research, and #1 New York Times bestselling author of How to be an Antiracist, as he showcases his new book How to Raise and Antiracist.
How to Raise an Antiracist draws on Kendi's own experiences raising his children as it delves into how raising a child in the realities of racism and the myth of race can provide a protective education in the diverse and unequal world.
The evening's conversation will be hosted by Dr. Cheryl Holcomb-McCoy, Dean of the School of Education and a professor at American University and author of School Counseling to Close Opportunity Gaps: A Social Justice and Antiracist Framework for Success and Antiracist Counseling in Schools and Communities.
Tickets for the evening are $18 per person, or $35 with the inclusion of a signed copy of the book. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite. The event will be held in person and virtually, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
