Starting from Scraps: A Discussion on Composting and Food Waste in DC

Join Slow Food DC, Compost Cab and the Mt. Pleasant Community Compost on September 18th at Columbia Heights Green for an afternoon conversation about composting systems and food waste in DC. Speakers from local restaurants, culinary educators, community gardens and businesses will discuss food waste challenges, how they're working to tackle the problem and create a cycle that brings compost back into our communities. Following the discussion, you will have chance go on a short tour of the gardens, learn how Columbia Heights Green generates its compost and receive free seeds and compost to take home with you.
