Summer Sounds Concert Series at Chevy Chase Lake

The Summer Sounds Concert Series returns for its second year, bringing live music to Thursday evenings at 6:30 PM. This vibrant series showcases a range of genres, including Motown, rock, funk, soul, jazz, bluegrass, and Caribbean steel drums. The season opens with The Original Moonlighters, celebrating over 50 years as soul legends in Washington, DC. On June 12, Hurricane Kevin & The Cat 5 take the stage, performing award-winning classic rock hits such as The Beach and The Boulevard, the latter having won Song of the Year at the Carolina Beach Music Awards. Other featured acts include The Funicular Project, King Soul Band, and Unity Reggae Band—a touring group known for sharing stages with The Wailers, Yellowman, and Burning Spear. The series concludes on August 14 with Honest Lee Soul, recently named Best Blues Band at the 2024 Maryland Music Awards. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to enjoy performances along with specialty food and drinks from local favorites Elena James, Playa Bowls, The Charmery, and Uncorked Wine & Beer. A portion of proceeds from select vendors will benefit Nature Forward, an organization celebrating 75 years of environmental education and conservation across the DMV.
