Royal Holiday Cocktail Kits + Traditional Christmas Tamales To-Go

Michelin-honored Royal in DC’s LeDroit Park is bringing holiday spirit(s) and specials to you this season, offering creative holiday cocktail kits and festive, family-inspired Christmas Tamales for two, available for take-out this month. Tamales have long been a late-night menu staple at this Colombian-inspired eatery, and are especially symbolic in Latin American countries during Christmas time. A holiday tradition of the Carlson family (Royal’s owners), Chef Cable Smith is cooking up Christmas Tamales for two filled with roasted chicken, cheese, and grilled cabbage alongside house aji sauce. This festive pre-prepared dinner (all food comes with easy reheating instructions) is paired with a five-course cocktail and coffee tasting for two from bar director Alonzo Freeman, featuring creative riffs on some of Royal’s favorite holiday drinks. Bottled cocktails include a mezcal-spiked mole eggnog, a Colombian rum old fashioned, an ancho chile-spiced espresso martini, and a holiday-spiced honey Bees Knees. Royal’s Holiday Tamales + Cocktail Kit combo is $130, which includes tamales and cocktails for two (four tamales with accompaniments, and ten cocktail portions).
