Alphonse Mellot is the 19th generation of the winemaker family. The Mellot family can be found in the local archives as winegrowers and wine merchants of Sancerre since the 16th century. Their continued success led King Louis XIV to appoint Cesar Merlot as his personal wine consultant. Today, Alphonse Jr. is in total charge, having taken over the reins fully fifteen years ago from his father Alphonse Sr.
