Juneteenth Celebration at Olney Theatre

The Olney Theatre Center invites the community to a free, family-friendly Juneteenth Celebration on Wednesday, June 19, 2025, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. This year’s event features a captivating musical performance by Kanysha Williams, a renowned Washington, DC-area singer, songwriter, and actress known for her genre-defying voice and powerful stage presence.

The celebration begins at 4:30 p.m. on the Roberts Mainstage, where Kanysha Williams will present A Musical Journey Through Black Music (1930–2020). This immersive, interactive concert traces the evolution of Black musical genres from spirituals and blues to funk, hip-hop, rock, and neo-soul, celebrating the resilience, creativity, and influence of Black artists across generations.

Following the performance, the event continues from 5:30–7:00 p.m. at OMI's Pavilion with local vendors and a food truck for guests to enjoy.

Attendees are encouraged to bring friends, family, and neighbors for this joyous community celebration of freedom, culture, and legacy.
