Michael Franz's Top Wines From 2020
5207 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite #7, Third Floor (Online Class)
Let’s be real: few of you will look back fondly on the year 2020. Although Michael Franz could only judge three wine competitions and make one overseas tasting trip before Covid-19 clipped his wings, he was still fortunate to taste more than 7,000 wines during the year, including some truly amazing ones that he would love to show you in this tasting class. Being too specific would spoil the fun of tasting each of the 12 wines “blind” before identifying them, but he has disclosed that the lineup will include: a Grand Cru Red Burgundy; a wonderfully mature Sauternes with First Growth pedigree from the 1855 classification; a magnum of Barolo from one of the region’s best producers and crus; a dry Riesling that may be Germany’s single best table wine, and an incredibly over-achieving red Bordeaux that can hold its own with the region’s best but still be afforded by mere mortals. With his palate’s reputation on the line, you can bet the wines will be exciting, and you will have fun looking at 2020 in the rear-view mirror. Tickets are $95 and the event is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wine samples are available for pickup by appointment on Friday, January 15 between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. To register and for more information please click here.
