Opera Lafayette is proud to announce their 2022/23 season presenting three programs exploring one theme: The Era of Madame de Pompadour. The programme is one of a three year series that highlights the relation of historical women in 18th century France to the musical life of their time. The Era of Madame de Pompadour will explore the Marquise's extraordinary life, her political career, her artistic talents, and her legendary cultural influence, which can still be felt today.
The second performance is Pergolisi! is dedicated to the enormously popular music during the era of Madame de Pompadour, and inspired the Guerre des Bouffons, an intellectual and artistic battle between partisans of Italian and French music.
