The Rickey is D.C.'s native cocktail, invented in 1883 at Shoomaker's by George A. Williamson, and named after Colonel Joe Rickey. The Rickey Competition has traditionally been the largest and best-attended bartending competition in the District of Columbia. It challenges bartenders to reimagine the District’s native cocktail in creative ways, while staying true to the spirit of the original. The final 8 competitors will make their gin or whiskey Rickeys for guests and judges, and there will be a new Rickey Champion. Entry includes bottomless Rickeys and light snacks. Tickets are $40 and the event will begin at 12:30 p.m. For more information, click here.
