Tables Without Borders For World Refugee Week
1770 Euclid Street NW
Tables Without Borders, a non-profit dinner series featuring refugee and asylum-seeker chefs in DC, will support displaced chefs while raising money for HIAS, a global leader in refugee resettlement, with its inaugural dinner series. During World Refugee Week in June, five restaurants – A Rake’s Progress, Espita Mezcalaria, Himitsu, Little Sesame and Maydan – will partner with five refugee and/or asylum-seeking chefs to cook and serve special collaborative dishes each night of the week. Restaurants will donate a portion of proceeds to HIAS, which seeks to safeguard and increase the rights of asylum seekers upon their arrival in the U.S. The organizers behind Tables Without Borders have thoughtfully paired chefs from specific countries with restaurants and kitchens that have expertise, complementary or direct, with their cuisine. Each restaurant has a unique booking system. Reservations are free and can be made at each restaurant on a first come, first served basis with links available here.
