The origins of the British Carving Trolley date back to the 1820s, where cuisine was served in London chess clubs silently, and without menu conversation so as not to disturb players. At Washington, DC’s new British brasserie, the tradition lives on as Scotts introduces The Knights of F Street, a weekly gathering where chess boards come out, friendly competition is waged over fine cask spirits and decadent roasted meats served tableside, and loved British traditions are honored on this side of the pond. Players ranging from novices looking for an entertaining evening to pros looking for a new venue may reserve a chess board and table for $10. The event is from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. To buy a ticket, click here.
