Tonari Launches "Kats’s King of Suteki" Pop-Up

Every Monday night beginning February 10th, 5 - 9 p.m., Tonari is excited to introduce “Kat’s King of Suteki,” a weekly pop-up featuring chef Katsuya Fukushima’s take on a Philly-style cheesesteak. At the heart of Kat’s King of Suteki is the chīzu-sutēki, a hefty steak-and-cheese creation served on a sesame seed hoagie roll from Lyon Bakery. The star of the dish is tender beef and onions, slowly simmered in a mildly sweet dashi broth with kombu, shoyu, and mirin. It’s topped with Kewpie mayo, pickled beni shoga, and a sprinkle of ichimi togarashi (ground chili pepper). Inspired by gyudon, a Japanese beef rice bowl, the beef is braised in the sweet soy dashi rather than grilled, offering a rich and savory depth of flavor. Click HERE to check out Tonari.
