Best Decade Ever For Barolo & Barbaresco, 2006 – 2016 With Michael Franz
Virtual Event
This will be a re-run (with entirely different wines) of a class from November 21st, 2020 that sold out quickly and produced a very long waiting list. Wine lovers enjoy arguing about best of all time questions almost as much as sports fans do, but the decade culminating with the 2016 Barolo and Barbaresco releases is indisputably the best in history. However, you’ll still have plenty to discuss during this survey of exemplary wines from this period, including the factors that explain its greatness (such as technical advancements, retreat from high percentages of new French barriques, and climate change), as well as the relative merits of the different vintages, which are marked by significant stylistic variation. All the best years within this winning streak will be represented by at least one wine, with each of the twelve wines selected to show the particular characteristics of its vintage in the best possible light. The class will include several rare magnums flown back with Michael Franz from his annual tasting in the region. $110 per person. 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wine samples are available for pickup by appointment on Friday, March 5th between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. For more information or to register, please click here.
