As part of the Virginia 250 commemoration, join the Loudoun VA250 Committee and Scott Harris, Founder of Catoctin Creek Distillery, for an engaging evening exploring the early history of whiskey in America.

From George Washington’s successful distilling operation to the rise of whiskey as a defining American industry, this talk traces how farming, frontier life, and growing demand shaped the nation’s relationship with distilled spirits during the colonial and late 18th century. The program highlights whiskey’s lasting influence on American identity, tradition, and innovation.

The event takes place on Thursday, January 8, from 7:00–9:00 PM at Catoctin Creek Distillery. Drinks will be available for purchase. Advance registration is required.
