Mama Haeringer’s Basque Heritage Celebration Wine Tasting & Traditional Basque Six-Course
332 Springvale Road, Great Falls VA
Join L’Auberge Chez François Thursday, March 10th for their celebration of L’Auberge Chez François’ Mama Haeringer’s deep Basque heritage. They are celebrating their Mama’s part of France, “Basque Country,” with a delectable pre-dinner tasting flight of two Basque wines. Joining to enlighten you on these unique Basque wines is Danny Fisher of Wine Traditions in Falls Church, Virginia. You'll then continue the evening with a multi-course culinary experience of Classic Basque recipes that Mama Haeringer prepared for her family in a nod to her Basque roots. Chef Jacques lovingly remembers each and every dish and is pleased to recreate these for you this evening. The Basque people are thought to be an ancient group whose presence was recorded by Greek and Roman writers, and whose language is (along with Finnish) one of the most unique in Europe. Euskal Herria (Basque Country) lies on either side of the western Pyrenees along the border between France and Spain, on the coast of the Bay of Biscay. On the Spanish side, the local wines are known as Txakoli, giving whites and reds of great freshness. The wines of Irouléguy on the French side share many grape varieties common to southwest France, including Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng and Petit Courbu for the whites, and Tannat and Cabernet Franc for the reds, as well as some rare local varieties. The wines have freshness and elegance in common with their kin across the border. This highly anticipated dinner experience will be presented in the beautiful Garden Room. Enjoy this intimate, relaxing, and delectable six-course Basque-themed repast. $218 per person. 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on March 10th. For more information, please click here.
