Mark your calendars: the wildly popular whole Maguro Tuna cutting demonstration is going virtual. In this iteration, watch live from the very best seats (your own home) and view from three camera angles. Get excited and get hungry, because this 100lbs+ tuna will become the freshest possible dinner, right before your eyes. In this unique ninety minute experience, you will watch Chefs Zach Ramos and Amy Phan (previously of Sushi Taro) break down a whole head-on tuna into traditional sushi blocks and then make several sophisticated culinary preparations with the beautiful fish. You will learn some sushi/sashimi-making tips and tactics. During the experience, you'll learn how various cuts of the tuna are used, and all three types will be included in your take-home dinner (lean, medium-fatty and fatty). You will even learn to make your own hand rolls; a set-up will be included with your dinner so you can DIY at home. The class will culminate with a live auction of the Maguro Tuna collar, an exceptionally unique treat and coveted delicacy -- the Chefs will prepare the collar meat to the winner's liking. As a bonus during the demonstration, you will be joined by Reiko Harai, founder of DC Sake Co, who will demystify Sake, in a mini Sake 101 class. Exclusive Sake specials will be available for purchase and can be picked up with your dinner. After December 25th, this virtual class costs $100. THe class will take place on January 23rd from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Curbside pick up for your dinner is available immediately following the class, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Mess Hall.
