Two-Day Classical Musical Event Celebrates Capacity To RISE
910 Black Lives Matter Plaza
From March 18th through 19th, 2022, Constellations Chamber Concerts presents RISE, a two-day, three-concert special event to mark its return to its downtown D.C. venue. The performances each offer a unique program with tickets available for individual concerts or as a single unified experience. RISE is inspired by our capacity to rise above the fray, tap into our inner strength, and conquer seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Fittingly, it will feature an artist team assembled from many of the musicians and composers featured during Constellations' Virtual Concert seasons at the outset of the pandemic, reuniting these artists for a celebration of their return to in-person music making. The March 18th evening performance features works by Eve Beglarian, Gabriel Fauré, Tania León, and Kevin Puts for various combinations of flute, clarinet, violin, marimba, and piano, and concludes with Maurice Ravel’s Piano Trio in A Minor. The March 19th evening performance includes works by Olivier Messiaen for marimba and György Kurtág for piano four-hands, bringing the event to a close with Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time. The March 19th afternoon performance features a world premiere performance of Walk with me, my joy by Daniel Pesca, a new work for flute, cello, mallet percussion, and piano. In a new concert format for Constellations, the concert will be followed by an intimate Q&A session with the composer and performers, and conclude with a second performance of the new work. To protect the health and safety of hosts, artists, and audiences, Constellations requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination for all 2021-22 season events. Masks are strongly recommended and may be required based on local D.C. mandates at the time of the performance. Individual concert tickets for RISE are available for $40 for the Friday and Saturday evening performances, and $20 for the Saturday afternoon (Re)sounding performance. Bundle tickets to all three performances are also available for a special discounted rate of $90. 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 18th, and 1:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 19th.
