Whodunnit? Cocktail Pop-Up

Was it Miss Paylor in the bar with the barspoon? Mr. Kenny in the dining room with the poisoned martini? Mr. Freeman in the kitchen with the cocktail shaker? For the latest installment of its monthly “Royal Knights” cocktail series, the Royal in LeDroit Park is hosting a mystery-filled, Clue-themed pop-up. Guest bartender Lauren Paylor of Dos Mamis and Pom Pom (formerly Himitsu) will collaborate with Royal’s bar managers Jake Kenny and Alonzo Freeman on six colorful cocktails, each inspired by the game’s characters, all served at just $8 all evening. The cult-classic Clue movie from the 1980s will be screened on the projector, while the board game will be available for you to play. For those who need a palate cleaner between cocktails, Royal will also offer $3 canned brews from beer sponsor Atlas Brew Works. And the kitchen will be open for hungry diners, with Chef Cable Smith serving up late-night-only Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwiches for just $9, featuring a super crispy 48-hour brined chicken thigh, fermented chili aioli, and Colombian b&b pickles on a buttery soft brioche bun.
