Authentic Italian Twist On New Year’s Eve With Modena

Modena will be offering an authentic Italian twist on New Year’s Eve. Executive Chef John Melfi’s tempting starters include Cured Salmon “Raviolo” with Meyer lemon, mascarpone, breakfast radish, squid ink tuile, pickled chilies, and red sorrel; Grilled Calamari with Italian sausage, crispy tentacles, avocado, red sorrel, and periwinkle vinaigrette; Foie Gras Mousse with cocoa nib granola, Asian pear preserves, and cranberry-walnut tuile, and Burrata with Italian radicchio, pesto Genovese, bottarga, Calamansi vinaigrette, and focaccia tuile. Next, you can select from one of six pasta dishes with highlights such as Tortellini in Brodo with braised beef short rib confit, shaved matsutake mushrooms, ricotta, smoked parmesan dashi, and Good Luck gold leaf and Roasted Cauliflower Agnolotti with sheep’s milk ricotta, roasted pine nuts, tarragon, preserved lemon and brown butter before selecting their entrée. Standouts include the Pan Seared Venison with huckleberry jam, avocado, ember roasted sunchokes, and star anise jus; Grilled Wagyu Sirloin with porcini-chestnut purée, pickled mousseron mushrooms, crispy shallots, and bone marrow bearnaise; Grilled Yellowfin Tuna with braised fennel, taggiasca olives, and puttanesca condiment, as well as Acquerello Risotto with Jerusalem artichokes, compressed Honeycrisp apple, castelmagno cheese, and alba hazelnuts. For a sweet ending, you will enjoy Torta Tenerina, a flourless chocolate cake, cocoa-nib tuile, chamomile-thyme honey gelato; Pear & Lemon Tart with Meyer lemon curd, hazelnut praline, and brown butter crumble as well as Maple-Bourbon Budino with vanilla emulsion, candied pecans, blood orange zest and crunchy chocolate pearls. The four-course, prix fixe menu is priced at $90 per person, and you can add thirty grams of Black River Royale caviar to any dish for an additional $100 or three grams of Perigord truffles for $35. Modena’s New Year’s Eve menu will be served from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m and be available for carryout or delivery for those who wish to celebrate the holiday at home. Additionally, the restaurant will be offering three takeaway feasts for couples to enjoy. You can select a Roseda Farms Prime Rib; Whole Roasted Duck or Rack of Lamb accompanied by Parmesan Whipped Yukon Gold Potatoes; Earth ‘N Eats Farms Roasted Baby Winter Vegetables and Truffle Jus. For the sweet finale, who can resist a choice of Tiramisu with ladyfingers, whipped mascarpone, and coffee cremeux, and The Ball Drops at Midnight with gianduja mousse, crunchy pearls, chocolate soil, and raspberry coulis which are included in the New Year’s Eve package. The Whole Roasted Duck and sides is priced at $125 per couple; the Rack of Lamb and sides is priced at $150 per couple, and the Roseda Farms Prime Rib and sides is priced at $160 per couple.
